(The full curriculum can be downloaded at www.EnlightenEducationCo-op.org/resources-page/, approximately 150 pages.)
It is composed of four parts and is in the public domain, free to any user. The curriculum was designed for use in public high schools as a supplemental and elective course.
It conforms to guidelines set by the courts in that it has a secular purpose and does not promote or denigrate any particular religious world views,
The first part is a Survey of World Religions. The second and third parts are a Survey of the Old and New Testaments and the fourth part is a Civics curriculum.
Teachers are requested to simply project the curriculum for students with accompanying relevant scripture from any number of internet sources and guide courteous discussions of the content. Teachers need not have any formal training in religion and are not allowed to promote or denigrate any religious viewpoint.
The reason school systems should use this curriculum is that it presents religion in general and the Bible in particular as ground from which values, morals, and meaning are often derived. The Bible represents the most significant influence on world culture and civilization, has given birth to the largest religion in the world, Christianity, and continues to be overwhelmingly the most prominent publication ever printed.
For our public school system to avoid placing it before students is equivalent to educational malpractice.
